Evy Andersen, the photographer I worked together with on Adam & Eva, asked me in late 2005 if I'd like to work with her on next years Bertine Zetlitz album. I've wanted to work with Bertine even since her first album, particularily by doing a music video, but doing the images for her album cover is in many ways even better.

Bertine wanted a film noir Nancy Drew style to the cover, and I suggested adding the grittyness of Sin City into the mix. Again, as with the Adam & Eva images, I was left to do pretty much what I wanted. Only the cover image (above) went a bit back and forth with the record company in order to make sure Bertine was the right size for marketing purposes. Other than that I was free to improvise based on the photos I received from Evy.

Also, like the Adam & Eva project, only Bertine herself was photographed, then everything else was done by me in 3D. I was able to try out a style I've been thinking about for some time, combining the textures and light of flemish paintings with art deco type patterns and design. I didn't quite get there, but I am really happy about the way the images turned out in the end.
